Want a traditional URL (domain name) like 'www.your-site.com' ?



GWebWizard has no affiliation with GoogleTM search.

Step #1
Register your URL with a domain-registration service like NameCheap.comTM .
The following example is designed around the NameCheap.comTM domain registration service.
  • Login to your domain registration account
  • Go to Manage-Domains
  • Select your new domain you want to link, [X] Select it, then click [Edit selection]
  • Click on [All Host Records] in the left column of options
  • Edit the Modify Domain Records information -- edit the RED fields below on the NameCheapTM page

  • Save your new settings and log out
Step #2
Add your new 'www.your-site.com' domain to your new WebSite ...
  • Login to your new WebSite
  • Click on More : Manage Site : Web Address
  • Click on Add a web address: [example: www.your_domain.org] : Add
  • If you get an error about validating your domain address you need a Verification Code
    • Visit the https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=enTM page
    • Add your new domain name which will open a new page with your verification code
    • Login to your domain registrar to the Records for your domain and add a new TXT type record
    • Fill in the Host name with '@'
    • Fill in the IPAddress/URL filed with the Full Verification Code text
    • Set the TTL to 1800
    • Save this record and wait for a while for the change to take effect
    • Go back to the GoogleTM page and click [Verify]
    • The page will refresh and show verification when complete
    • Do NOT remove this added TXT record as it provides continued verification of domain ownership
  • Now you should see two web addresses in the list:
    • https://sites/google/com/site/TMyour-site-name
    • www.your-domain-name.com
  • Save your changes
IF ... you get a "Domain is not Verified" error, you need to add a CNAME record ...
  • Use the link on the same page or go to: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/
  • If your site is NOT listed: Add your new domain URL in the box and click [ADD A SITE]
  • If your site IS listed: click [Manage] and then [Verify this site]
  • Click [Alternate Methods] and then select [Domain name provider]
  • Follow the instructions (variable) to manually create a CNAME record
  • Click [Verify] but do NOT delete the new record from your domain name server

Wait for the web servers to update for the new URL to work ... it might take 24-48 hrs but is usually faster
